Survey FAQs

What will the survey be used for?

We've set bold goals to be a national force for change – to make workplace parity a reality. The GEN Certification will lead this change. As the first gold standard measurement of gender parity in the U.S. workplace, the GEN Certification relies on mass data to be effective.

That’s why we need you.

We can’t create this standard without your help. Your experience of your workplace matters.  Your input reveals the difference between what employers say they offer and what you actually feel you have access to.

Hearing from all employees about how they experience their work gives us a baseline for setting the new standard for inclusion. Please join in us in raising the bar.

Can I take the survey on my phone? How long will this take?

The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It is important that you have enough time set aside to complete the survey once you’ve started it because you will not be able to log back in and continue if you stop part of the way through.

We highly recommend taking the survey on a computer because scrolling through answer choices on a smartphone can be difficult and time consuming.

I’m a man. Should I still take this?

YES.

This survey is about hearing from everybody. We’re looking to find common ground, not separate spaces. Your perspective is valued because it ensures that the certification applies to all workplaces where all genders are represented.

I don’t identify with the gender assigned to me at birth – should I take the survey?

YES.

Nonbinary, transgender, and gender nonconforming populations are currently the least represented in workforce data. The more input we get from you, the more your needs will finally be heard and met by employers.

I'm self-employed. Can I take the survey?

We appreciate your interest in taking part in the GEN Survey, but at this time, the survey is open only to employees of organizations and those who have been retired for less than 18 months.

Are responses anonymous?

Yes.

All responses are completely confidential and anonymous, and any potentially identifying information will be separated from your responses. All survey data is maintained on secure servers.
